Career Employment Opportunity Walworth County Landfill Manager Sub-title D Type II B Facility North-central South Dakota
The Walworth County Landfill is located southwest of Mobridge, South Dakota in north-central South Dakota. The facility is owned and operated by Walworth County (WC) under the direction of the Walworth County Commission as a permitted Sub-title D Type II B facility with waste collections ranging from 15,000 to 20,000 tons annually. Waste collection includes MSW, yard waste, trees, grass, tires, building demolitions, and also is recognized as a land-farm facility for PCS (petroleum contaminated soil) and a host site for asbestos disposal. No hazardous waste is accepted.The WC Landfill is recognized as a regional waste disposal facility that satisfies the disposal interests of the north-central South Dakota area. Current service area totals a population base of approximately 26,000.The WC Landfill has been in existence since the mid 1970’s as an un-regulated dump-site and in the early 1980’s became a permitted Subtitle D facility. A recent redesign extends the facility life to 40 years (15,000 tons annually) which makes this employment a career position for the right individual.
Job Description Position will be open until filled. Resumes are required for each application. Individual responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Monthly and annual report of operations to the Walworth County Commission
- Establishing a provisional budget
- Aid in construction design to display a brief review of the overall responsibilities
Individual selected for the position will work for Walworth County. Salary range is from $30,000 to $50,000, with benefits, based on qualifications and experience.
