Agenda
The 2010 conference committee is currently planning the speakers and agenda (Feb.-May).  If you are interested in presenting at our conference or know of someone that would make a great speaker, let us know (information below or contact Carolyn Trautman at the SD Solid Waste Association at 605-216-3256 or via e-mail at sdsolidwaste@yahoo.com.  

Attendees
The attendee rates have been set at $200 for ND or SD members and $260 for non-members.  To see if you are a member, check our our member list.  The registration form will be made available in July 2010.    

Exhibitors
Interested in showcasing your products or services to attendees? Click here for the exhibitor registration information letter. Exhibitor space fills up fast and exhibitors can register between June 1st and July 15th, 2010.  Click here for the exhibitor/sponsor registration form. The $350 (member) or $450 (non-member) early-bird rate includes attendance for one person (seminars and meals) and booth space.  Registration after July 15th will be $400 (member) and $500 (non-member).  If you cannot make it, and are interested in getting your information out to all attendees, you can "Stuff your Stuff" for $100.  This material will be made available near the registration booth for attendees to pick up.  You can also get your name and services out to our attendees through being a sponsor for the conference. A variety of sponsorship levels are available and listed on the registration form. New this year: Membership for NDSW&RA will not be included with the exhibitor fee and can be paid separate using this form. SDSWMA membership renewals and new memberships can be paid separate using this form.   Each form lists current members and membership fees. 

Hotel Information
A block of rooms are reserved at the Best Western Ramkota in Aberdeen, SD for $84.99 + tax.  To reserve your room, call (605) 229-4040.  The hotel is located at 1400 8 Ave. NW, Aberdeen, SD 57401.  See this link for directions: http://aberdeen.ramkotacom/location.php  Additional rooms have been blocked at the Super 8 Hotels East (605-229-5005) and Super 8 North (605-226-2288) for $74.98 + tax. Please be sure to ask for the "ND or SD Solid Waste and Recycling Conference" block of rooms to get the discount rate.  All room blocks are available until August 13, 2010.

Tours, Golf and Social - Tuesday, September 14:
Tuesday Tours will include Meyers Tractor Salvage and Molded Fiberglass. The tours will be consecutive with a golf tournament at the Rolling Hills Golf Course (9 holes includes cart - $45 each). A conference kick-off social (with food a refeshments) will be hosted by all the conference exhibitors in the exhibit hall at 5:00 pm.

SDSWMA Annual Awards
Career Achievement Award:  This award is given to a person, industry, business, or community who has promoted environmentally sound solid waste management practices throughout their careers.  This may be through promoting recycling, practicing waste prevention, waste reduction, improving waste handling methods, designing waste handling facilities, providing equipment and services, or any other work they have done that directly and indirectly affects the solid waste industry.

Innovation Award:  This award goes to a person, industry, business, or community who has, through work practices, equipment and materials supply, engineering design, waste handling, facility design, or other means, demonstrated new and improved ways of achieving environmentally sound solid waste management practices. 

Local Champion Award:  The local champion has gone above and beyond, within the solid waste industry, to supply exemplary economical, environmentally sound services to customers. 

Pinch of Seagull Sh...Award:  This award goes to someone who has suffered from “shit happening” in the last year.  At some point in our careers, everyone experiences a situation that they have no control over.  This is a therapeutic award given to help “get over it and move on”.

Please submit your nominations for these awards no later than August 15, 2010 so plaques and certificates can be prepared.
